Thane court, on survivor's deposition, sentences man to 20 yrs RI for raping 6-year-old

The decision was given by Special POCSO court judge DS Deshmukh, who imposed a Rs 5,000 punishment on the 47-year-old offender.

A court in Thane district sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in 2021. As per a report in PTI, the accused was sentenced based on the survivor's declaration and the testimony of other prosecution witnesses. 

According to the report, the decision was given on Wednesday by Special POCSO court judge DS Deshmukh, who imposed a Rs 5,000 punishment on the 47-year-old offender, Pandurang Shelar of a village in Thane's Diva district.
