A 60-year-old man died after allegedly drowning in a waterlogged area at Mumbra in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-rains-25-year-old-woman-seriously-injured-after-tree-falls-on-car-and-pedestrian-in-maharashtras-thane-23638695" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane district of Maharashtra</a>, officials said on Wednesday.
The body was recovered with the help of local residents before fire brigade personnel reached the scene, they said.
According to the Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), the incident was reported at 5.23 pm on July 8, 2026.
The drowning occurred at M.S. Compound in Kausa area of Mumbra, where a man was found submerged in the water.
<h2>Body recovered</h2>
Officials said police personnel from Daighar Police Station, with the assistance of local residents, recovered the body of the man from water before the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-rains-waste-mound-collapses-at-moshi-dump-yard-amid-heavy-rains-in-pune-several-feared-trapped-23638836" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">fire brigade arrived</a>.
The deceased has been identified as Aamir Khan, aged around 60 years.
After the recovery, the body was sent to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa for further legal formalities.
Police are carrying out further investigation into the incident.
<h2>Two teenagers drown in Mumbai</h2>
Two <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-17-year-old-boy-drowns-at-aksa-beach-search-operation-called-off-23637022" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">teenagers drowned</a> in separate incidents reported in Kandivali West, with rescue teams, police and emergency services being mobilised, officials said.
In the first incident, a 17-year-old boy drowned in Dingeshwar Talav at Charkop Gaon near Rustomji Building in Kandivali West on Sunday afternoon.
According to information received from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation&rsquo;s Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) Control, the incident took place at around 2.18 pm.
Fire brigade personnel launched a search operation at the spot. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was also mobilised following a request from the fire brigade.
Officials said further details regarding the incident are awaited.
<h2>16-year-old dies after drowning in well</h2>
In another incident, a 16-year-old boy drowned in a well behind Sagwadi Chawl on MG Cross Road No. 4 in Kandivali West.
The incident took place at around 1.47 pm on July 5 and was reported to authorities on July 7 at around 2.40 pm.
According to officials, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-16-year-old-dies-after-drowning-at-juhu-chowpatty-police-launches-probe-23633909" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">the teenager</a> was rescued from the well by fire brigade personnel using a rope and a first-floor ladder. He was immediately taken to Nidhi Hospital for treatment.
The hospital authorities later informed officials that the boy, identified as Prit Sandeep Ganve, aged 16, was declared brought dead.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade, police and 108 ambulance services were deployed following the incident.
