The officials on Wednesday said that six scrap godowns were gutted after a fire broke out at a cluster of warehouses in Maharashtra's Thane district, reported news agency PTI.
No person was injured in the incident, they said.
The blaze erupted at 8.53 pm on Tuesday in a godown at the complex located at Chowdhari Compound on Khardi Road in Diva and quickly spread to five other warehouses, all owned by different persons, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said, reported PTI.
After being alerted, three fire engines were rushed to the spot. Personnel from Daighar police station and the regional disaster management cell also reached the site.
The fire was brought under control by 1.30 am on Wednesday, Tadvi said, adding that six godowns were completely gutted, reported PTI.
No harm was caused to any person, he said.
Cooling operations were on and the cause of the fire was yet to be determined, the official said.
Fire breaks out at Thane scrapyard
A fire broke out at a scrapyard in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on May 31.
No one was injured in the fire that erupted around 11 pm on May 30 at Bablu Compound in the Shil area, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation.
The fire, which was confined to five godowns in the scrapyard, was put out by firefighters around 5.15 am on Saturday, he said.
Tadvi said an investigation will be carried out to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Major fire breaks out at godown in Thane's Shil area, no report of injuries
A major fire broke out in a godown in Shil area of Thane on May 30, though there are no reports of anyone getting injured, a civic official said, reported news agency PTI.
The blaze started at 11pm in MS Compound near Dostil Complex, TMC disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said, reported PTI.
"Firefighting operations are underway. There is no report of injuries. Police personnel, Torrent Power Company employees and fire brigade personnel with two fire vehicles, one water tanker and one rescue vehicle are at the site," he said.
