Four days after a cockroach was allegedly found in food served to a patient at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital (CSMH) in Kalwa (on the night of August 28), the controversy escalated on Monday as the Konkan Environment and Public Welfare Society staged a sit-in at Dean Dr Swapnali Kadam’s chamber, demanding action.

The protest also brought to light that the hospital administration had neither visited the patient nor conducted an inquiry. Following the protest, Kadam met the patient, while Dr Aniruddha Malgaonkar, superintendent, CSMH, recorded her account of the incident.
