In a shocking scenario, a 37-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old girl in Maharashtra's Thane district, as per the police officials.
News agency PTI reported that the alleged incident took place in the Bhiwandi area on October 15. Unfortunately, the incident happened the same day that the minor was celebrating her birthday.
Citing the FIR, an official said that the victim was playing outside her house when the accused, Dineshkumar Sharma, told her he would buy her a birthday gift and asked her to accompany him. Getting frightened by the accused’s promise, the child got scared and ran into her house.
The accused further went to the victim very rudely and frightened the minor when she was playing with her friends.
The police official also asserted that “The accused touched her inappropriately. When she raised an alarm, Sharma warned her of dire consequences if she talked about the incident with anyone,” citing the FIR, as reported by news agency PTI.
The girl's father approached the Bhiwandi police on Wednesday (October 22), prompting the cops to arrest Sharma under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
While the investigation in the case is underway, the police officials failed to explain the reason behind the girl's father approaching the police officials so late.
Woman launches rape complaint against police inspector in Bengaluru
In a different incident, a 36-year-old woman filed a rape complaint against DJ Halli Police Inspector HB Sunil with Karnataka DGP and IGP MA Saleem on Wednesday. Following the complaint, the woman has urged authorities to initiate strict legal action against the accused police officer.
As reported by the news agency IANS, the woman, belonging to a minority community, has alleged that Inspector Sunil committed the crime after promising to marry her.
The complainant further stated that the accused has been issuing life threats and blackmailing her with private videos.
The woman further alleged that, “During our first meeting, he took my personal number. The next day, he saw my phone status and sent me a nice message. I replied with a ‘thank you’. After that, he kept texting me continuously. Although I was reluctant, I replied to his messages. He started inviting me to drink and party. He sent me his house location again, saying his wife had gone out for 10 days. I took a cab and went to his place," as cited by news agency IANS.
