Thane market fire: Civic body announces Rs 10-lakh aid, jobs for families of Gaondevi blaze victims

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on Thursday announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of two civic staffers who died in the massive fire at the Gaondevi vegetable market in the early hours of the day, while Rs 1 lakh each will be provided to the injured.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting convened following instructions from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The meeting was attended by Mayor Sharmila Pimpalolkar, Member of Parliament (MP) Naresh Mhaske, and Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, among others.
