In a shocking incident at Thane, unidentified persons opened fire at the house of a social media influencer during the early hours of Saturday, police said.
As reported by PTI, there were no reports of injury in the firing, which occurred around 4 am in Mumbra town, but a car belonging to Nadeem (Baba) Khan, a social media influencer, was slightly damaged, an official said.
A senior official of the Thane City police, while briefing about the incident, said, “Miscreants fired a couple of rounds at Khan's house, but no one was injured. We have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act," as per PTI.
Furthermore, a video has surfaced on social media in which Khan can be seen shouting at the miscreants. In the clip, he is also seen alleging that he had previously submitted a memorandum to the police regarding threats to his life, but no action was taken.
The official further added, "We are currently verifying his claims and scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the shooters."
19-year-old woman shot dead in Govandi
A 19-year-old woman was shot dead in the Govandi area of Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon, police said, adding that a probe has been launched and the suspect was identified.
The incident occurred around 12 noon and falls under the jurisdiction of the Shivaji Nagar police station, officials said.
According to the police, the woman sustained a bullet injury and died on the spot. The shooting caused panic in the locality, following which local residents alerted the authorities.
Police teams immediately rushed to the scene and carried out a spot panchnama. Senior officers also visited the area to assess the situation and gather preliminary information.
Accused identified, say cops
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sameer Shaikh of Zone 6 said the accused has been identified, and a search operation is underway to trace and arrest the suspect.
Initial investigations indicate that the killing may have been linked to personal relationships and internal disputes. However, the police are examining all possible angles to establish the exact motive behind the crime.
