Three persons from Ambernath were injured after they were attacked by a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-mumbra-police-station-constable-ends-life-by-consuming-phenyl-23330280" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">group of people</a> for intervening in a fight in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI.
The incident took place on the night of January 12 when the victims were present at a tea stall in Ambernath, reported PTI.
There was a fight, and the three persons from Ambernath tried to pacify the two sides, the official said, citing the complaint. However, a group of people, who were carrying <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-thane-man-seriously-injured-in-firing-hospitalised-23330202" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">sharp weapons</a> like swords, attacked and injured the trio, the official said, reported PTI.
The police have registered a case, and a probe is underway, he added, reported PTI.
In another incident, a 22-year-old man was killed and four others were injured when a man attacked them with a pair of scissors during a quarrel in the eastern suburbs of the city, police said on Tuesday, reported PTI.
The incident occurred in the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-man-injured-after-falling-off-building-landing-on-iron-rods-in-thane-23330010" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Shivaji Nagar locality</a> of Govandi late on Sunday night, an official said, reported PTI.
The police have arrested the accused, Saeedur Rehman Sheikh, under section 302 (murder) and other relevant provisions of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/thane-police-book-three-persons-for-forging-documents-to-bail-out-accused-in-cheating-case-23328916" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Indian Penal Code</a> (IPC), he said, reported PTI.
According to the police, two of the victims had caught Saeedur peeping into a woman's house. They quarrelled with him and slapped him in front of his wife, reported PTI.
Later that night, the accused, along with his family members, had an altercation with the victims, and he allegedly attacked them with a pair of scissors, the official said, reported PTI.
One of the victims, Sadik Hussain, was killed in the attack, while Nadeem, Javed, Kamruddin and Rafique Sheikh sustained injuries, he said, reported PTI.
Hussain was stabbed in his face and back and bled to death on the spot, the official added, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, A man was seriously injured after some unidentified persons fired at him in Kalwa area of Maharashtra's Thane city, police said on Tuesday, reported PTI.
The incident took place on Monday night in Indira Nagar locality, they said, reported PTI.
"Unidentified persons fired at the man, Sandeep Pujari, and fled from the scene. He was then rushed to the Kalwa civic hospital in a serious condition," an official said, reported PTI.
