Residents in several parts of Thane have been advised to boil and filter drinking water before consumption for the next seven days following the completion of repair work at the Yewai balancing reservoir. The advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure amid concerns that the repairs and subsequent resumption of operations could affect the quality of water supplied to parts of the Mumbai metropolitan region.
The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) issued the advisory on Wednesday, October 28, following a similar precautionary notice from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Residents in areas that receive water through connections to the BMC's Pise-Panjrapur water supply pipeline have been asked to follow the recommended precautions throughout the seven-day period.
