This incident will definitely remind you of one of those Bollywood flicks about runaway brides; unfortunately, this time it&rsquo;s real and definitely serious. On the pretext of going to a beauty parlour, this bride ran away from her wedding hall in Ulhasnagar on Monday, deserting her would-be husband.

Frustrated and dejected, the groom then registered a cheating case against the girl, Kalyani Kamble and her family with Vitthalwadi police.

The victim, Pravin Pattebahaddara, is a JCB operator in a private firm and has been staying in Talegaon for the past couple of years. He is originally from Washim in Akola.
During investigation, the police found that the families of the bride and the groom met during a wedding mela.
&ldquo;Members of a particular community gather during such melas. Boys and girls introduce themselves and then the families decide on marriage. After the girl&rsquo;s father Kiran Kamble decided to get her daughter married to Pravin, the duo started interacting frequently,&rdquo; said Surendra Shrisath, senior police inspector of Vitthalwadi police station.
Bonding over cash As the bond between the families got stronger, they even started sharing money. &ldquo;Kalyani&rsquo;s father took cash from Pravin twice i.e a total of Rs 1.63 lakh, as he was making a Marathi film. Later, when Pravin asked for the money, he said that he would settle it later after the marriage.
Accordingly, the marriage was fixed on November 14,&rdquo; said a police officer from Vitthalwadi police station.
On Monday, the wedding was arranged at Buddha Vihar near Takshashila Vidyalaya in Ulhasnagar.

&ldquo;After the bride ran away from the venue, her family members also tried to flee, but Pravin caught hold of them. He then got them to the police station. After hearing both the sides, we registered a cheating case against the girl and her family. As the incident started from Talegaon, we will transfer the case to Talegaon police station,&rdquo; added Shrisath.
When contacted, Pravin said, &ldquo;Kalyani was ready for the marriage but I am not aware what went wrong.&rdquo;
A case has been registered at Vitthalwadi police station under Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code.
