Suicide letter says that Malad resident was unable to cope with the harassment meted out to him by his wife and her mother over compensation u00a0 Tired of the mental torture and repeated nagging from his wife and mother in-law, a 48-year-old man committed suicide. Robert Fernandez's decomposing body was found at his residence last night at Tagore Park, Malad. On Wednesday night, a doctor from Manorama Hospital,u00a0 which is in the same building, found a foul odour emanating from Fernandez's home. Realising something was amiss, he flashed his car's headlight to the apartment only to find a body hanging from the ceiling. According to preliminary investigations, Fernandez committed suicide three to four days ago. Police said that they found a suicide note in his pocket in which Fernandez claimed that for the last 12 years, his wife and mother in-law were harassing him for money and unable to take the harassment, he had killed himself. Cops added that Fernandez was married for 17 years, but had opted for a divorce 12 years ago and was fighting for the same in court too, as his wife had demanded compensation. Cops also told MiD DAY that the Malad resident had been working in Gulf countries, but had left his job four months ago owing to family pressures. "As of now, no case has been registered as a case is pending in the court and we shall record statements of his wife and in-laws for further investigation," said a Malad police official.
