Urban constituencies dominate voter exclusions as Maharashtra SIR cuts over 2.06 crore names

The names not included in the draft roll were classified under several categories, including voters already enrolled elsewhere, deceased persons, permanently shifted voters, untraceable or absent voters, and others

Urban and rapidly expanding assembly constituencies recorded some of the highest numbers of excluded voters in Maharashtra's draft electoral roll released after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), with Nalasopara in Palghar district topping the list.
The Chief Electoral Office said more than 2.06 crore names from the previous electoral roll were not included in the draft list following the revision exercise.
