Expect political executives to take on the judiciary in the ongoing Budget Session of the state legislature, over the Bombay High Court&rsquo;s observation that it will stall Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj&rsquo;s marine memorial if the construction of Mazgaon Court building was not funded properly.

The Shiv Sena, which is part of the ruling alliance, has already told the High Court to stay away from the issue. The party&rsquo;s mouthpiece, Saamna, published a scathing editorial on February 29 and warned the HC against crossing swords with the people of Maharashtra who revere Shivaji as a deity.
The president of Shivaji Memorial Project Committee, and BJP MLC, Vinayak Mete, told mid-day on Wednesday that he would table a motion condemning the High Court&rsquo;s observations.
&ldquo;The two issues &mdash; Mazgaon court construction and Shivaji Maharaj memorial are entirely different. The court shouldn&rsquo;t have said what it has about the memorial,&rdquo; he said, adding that several like-minded legislators from across the party disapproved of the judiciary&rsquo;s approach to the issue.
Sources said the aggressive Sena legislators too were waiting for an opportunity to strike at the High Court. &ldquo;We will support Mete in the upper house and bring our own motion in the lower house to condemn the court,&rdquo; said a Sena minister.
CM says When asked about it, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis did not mention the HC&rsquo;s observations, but insisted that nobody in Maharashtra could stall the Shivaji memorial. He was talking in terms of the financial assistance to be granted to the memorial and requisite permissions that are in place or needed to be taken from the authorities concerned.
&ldquo;We have got all permissions. There is no objection whatsoever from the (Indian) Navy either,&rdquo; he told mid-day.
Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao also said in his address to the joint sitting of the legislature on Wednesday that the memorial will be completed by 2019.
&ldquo;I am happy to inform that all clearances have been obtained for constructing the national monument of revered Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;A project management consultant has been appointed for the purpose. The government intends to complete the work before 2019,&rdquo; he said.
