The payment, made by cheque, had been declared consultancy fees, but the department smelt something fishy and has been investigating the matter.

"We are looking into the matter. A letter will be issued to the builder seeking an explanation for giving such a big amount to the leader," said a senior I-T officer on condition of anonymity.

The Other Side
Jitendra Awhad said, "Ask the I-T department for proof. There is nothing wrong in having a partnership with a builder or owning a flat in Adarsh."
