Veteran social activist Anna Hazare has opposed the Maharashtra Right to Information (RTI) Rules, 2026, warning that he will launch an indefinite hunger strike from July 5 if the state government does not withdraw what he described as amendments that weaken the transparency law.
Hazare alleged that several provisions introduced under the new rules dilute the spirit of the Right to Information Act and make it more difficult for citizens to access information from public authorities.
