The city-based Lilavati Hospital today submitted to the Bombay High Court the medical reports of late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray for the period November-December 2011 when he executed his will.

Justice Gautam Patel had asked the hospital to submit the reports on the last occasion. Thackeray's son and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray had filed a probate petition in the High Court to get the will certified. However, Jaidev Thackeray, the late leader's another son, challenged the will on the ground that his father was of unsound mind while signing it.
The will does not give anything to Jaidev, Thackeray's estranged son, while bestowing a major share on Uddhav. The hospital today submitted two volumes of medical records, running into 60 pages. Jaidev's lawyer Seema Sarnaik sought inspection of the records, which the court allowed.
The judge asked both the sides to go through the medical reports and file affidavits, if necessary, by February 10. At the next hearing on February 20, the court will record the evidence of Dr Jalil Parkar, Thackeray's family physician. He would be examined by both sides on the issue of Bal Thackeray's mental condition when he signed the will.
The HC had asked both Jaidev and Uddhav several times to settle the issue amicably and offered to appoint a mediator. But though Jaidev was willing, Uddhav turned down the proposal twice, saying the accusations levelled by Jaidev had hurt him and his family and caused a lot of bitterness.
Bal Thackeray, who died on November 17, 2012, signed his will on December 13, 2011.
