A female rusty-spotted cat, which was found last month injured in the Kharghar Hills of Navi Mumbai with both jaw fractures, was successfully treated and released back into the wild, forest officials said.

Native to India and Sri Lanka, the endangered animal is the smallest wild cat species in the world. The discovery is said to be the first reported sighting in Navi Mumbai.
