Confusion pertaining to warning signs has led to several H1N1 deaths, claim Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials. The civic body also highlighted the swine flu casualties that occurred outside the corporation&rsquo;s jurisdiction, where lack of proper diagnosis is a bane. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/aug/H1N1.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 338px;" /> Representation Pic u00a0Dengue cases have also been rising rapidly since the last two months and have caught up with instances of H1N1. PMC is also levying a penalty of Rs 1,000 on each citizen found responsible for breeding of mosquitoes. 34 deaths have taken place owing to swine flu in the city since January this year, of which 26 people were residents of areas outside PMC&rsquo;s limits. Explaining this ST Pardeshi, medical officer of health at PMC, said, &ldquo;Most of the deceased were residents of areas outside PMC limits. On many occasions these people are not aware of the symptoms and consider it normal fever. If they go to local doctors, the latter don&rsquo;t guide them adequately. When the situation becomes grim, then these doctors send the patients here.&rdquo; 232 people have tested positive of swine flu in the city since January this year. The number was 730 for the whole of last year. &ldquo;People take over-the-counter drugs for fever or consult local physicians. And when the condition gets critical they reach the hospitals, where it becomes impossible to treat them in such critical condition,&rdquo; informed another medical officer from PMC-run Naidu hospital. 34 No of people who have died of swine flu in the city since Janu00a0
