I was trapped inside the vehicle for almost half-an-hour.&rdquo; Maurya sustained a head injury and fractures on his legs and waist. Dashrat Bhutiya (27) said, &ldquo;I managed to wriggle out of the vehicle through a dent on the door. I alerted bystanders about my friend trapped inside the vehicle.&rdquo; Bhutiya sustained a head injury and blunt chest trauma. According to other present at the spot, the deceased, Mukherjee, died on the spot after being crushed between two heavy slabs of concrete. He was working on the fittings of the crane when the workers felt tremors. &ldquo;As soon as we realised that the bridge was shaking, we warned Suraj to run for his life. We were a mere 40 feet away from him, and he ran, but that entire portion collapsed, he was crushed&rdquo; said Ratan Mandal, who suffered minor injuries. Mukherjee&rsquo;s relatives collected his body last evening for last rites, which will be performed at his village in West Bengal. Ajay Parmeshwar Roy, admitted to KEM hospital with a fractured left arm and a cut on his chin, has been unconscious since Thursday night. His brother Vijay said, &ldquo;He was working under the concrete blocks.&rdquo; Ajay hails hails from Sonarpur near Kolkata. Lallu Ismail Khan (25) bore no external injuries but complained of severe pain in the head and back while he was admitted at KEM. CT Scan reports revealed a shift in the midline of the brain and internal bleeding. Neurologists at KEM performed a four hour-long brain surgery following which he was transferred to the ICU. Lallu hails from Bhind near Gwalior and has been married just for three months now.u00a0

Eight persons were injured in Thursday's mishap   ufffd of them, six were taken to Sion hospital and two to KEM hospital. Of the six at Sion, three are critical. The victims mostly suffered head injuries, fractures and deep cuts. All the victims are construction workers.
