'Many degrees have wrong faculty, specialisations'
Updated On: 12 February, 2013 08:35 AM IST | | Niranjan Medhekar
Following mismanagement and chaos at the 106th Convocation, where over 44,000 students turned up last Saturday, many are shocked to receive degree certificates with wrong faculty, specialisations printed on them
A day after MiD DAY carried a report highlighting the mismanagement at the 106th Convocation organised by the University of Pune (UOP) yesterday, many students — who were lucky enough to get their degrees last Saturday — have realised that the examination department has erred in printing the correct specialisation or, in some cases, the faculty on their certificates. On the other hand, the examination department is tossing the blame right back at the students by declaring that the mistakes are from their side and the certificates are printed according to the information supplied in the online convocation forms. However, the examination department is already distributing forms for rectification of printed errors.
Zahoor Shah, who completed Masters in Communication Studies from the UoP in June 2012, was shocked to find that his degree certificate declared him to be a Masters in Virology. u00a0“I am working with a reputed multinational firm. The company has asked for my degree certificate, as the copy of final year mark list is not considered as an official documental proof. But, after this unacceptable error, I am clueless how to proceed,” he said. Shah’s classmate Prasad Kulkarni found a similar mistake in his certificate too.u00a0
