The Aditya Birla Hospital defended its treatment of 36-year-old Tejinder Singh Ahluwalia who has accused them of malpractices during his treatment at the hospital.u00a0A day after MiD DAY published the article (‘Man flees hospital after ruckus over bill’, January 17), the hospital made it clear there was no wrongdoing on their part.

At a press conference called by hospital authorities yesterday, Dr M N Hiremath, who performed the surgery, challenged Ahluwalia to prove that the heart surgery conducted was not essential when he was admitted to the hospital. “If he proves that he did not have any such problem, then I will leave my practice forever,” said Dr Hiremath. “Post-angiography, it was revealed that the left anterior descending (LAD) artery of Ahluwalia was totally blocked and was responsible for the heart attack. The left circumflex artery (LCX) showed a moderate 50 per cent blockage. Under the circumstances, the best treatment is to open the blocked artery with angioplasty.”
