100-bed hospital comes up in Nashik for Kumbh pilgrims

Nashik: Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has commissioned a 100-bed hospital to cater to medical needs of sadhus and pilgrims taking part in the Kumbh Mela which began here four days ago.

Besides the hospital, spread over 8,000 sq ft place in Sadhugram (residential area for sadhus) in Tapovan, five temporary dispensaries have also been opened for mahants, sadhus and others arriving for the year-long congregation, the civic body said in a release here today.

A Chief Medical Officer, one chief nurse plus 24 nurses, 16 medical officers and ward boys will look after the hospital and dispensaries, which will be open round the clock.

An operation theatre, pathology lab, ambulances and other facilities have been provided to meet the health needs of devotees, it said.

Doctors from other NMC-run hospitals will also visit the place to assist the medical teams there.
