Police have recovered the mangled body of an 11-year-old child from a nullah near the Imax Theatre in Wadala on Saturday evening. Medical experts from Sion hospital are yet to ascertain whether the deceased is a boy or a girl, as the face and private parts of the body have been completely disfigured. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/mar/Jasmine-Khan.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 572px;" /> Jasmine Khan went missing after she left home to meet her father who runs a food stall in Wadala However, a family from a locality nearby has approached the cops claiming that it&rsquo;s their daughter, as her features, clothes, and accessories along with two missing teeth match the deceased&rsquo;s. On Saturday, a passer-by spotted the body in a gutter next to Imax and he informed the Wadala TT police about it. A police team reached the spot and took custody of the body. &ldquo;It looks like the body has been mauled by the attacker. Identification is difficult as the face and private parts have been disfigured,&rdquo; said Senior Inspector Jadhav of Wadala TT police station. With the prevailing confusion, officials from Wadala TT police station have sent the body to Sion hospital for autopsy but even the medicos are unable to ascertain the sex of the deceased child. The doctors had preserved the body with them, till the time of going to press. Missing piece? Meanwhile, a family from Wadala approached the cops claiming that it is their daughter, Jasmine Khan, who has been missing since over a week ago. Jasmine, a Std IV student in a municipal school, had set out from home to see her father who vends boiled eggs at a street-side stall in the vicinity, and after she met him, went missing. &ldquo;She came to see me and I gave her some money to buy bhel. She left the stall after that and has since been missing,&rdquo; said Jasmine&rsquo;s father Kamar Khan, a resident of Chandani Agar in Wadala. Khan who has been living with his wife and five daughters of whom Jasmine is the youngest, said, &ldquo;After searching for Jasmine with all her friends in the area, we approached the Wadala TT police station. The cops were negligent to register my complaint. They only kept saying that my daughter would return home. They gave us false promise that they would do their duty. Had they searched for my daughter then, she would have been alive now.&rdquo; Khan added, &ldquo;We are almost certain that she is our daughter. All her features the height, the clothes, the amulet and the missing teeth &ndash; match with the body&rsquo;s. I don&rsquo;t know what is the point in delaying the procedure of handing over my daughter&rsquo;s body to me.&rdquo; After preliminary investigations, cops suspect the involvement of drug addicts. They have detained three suspects in relevance to the case and are interrogating them to get further leads.u00a0
