13-digit M2M SIM numbers from July 1, mobile phone numbers not to change

The DoT had approved the scheme involving M2M services and a letter on it was sent to various departments on February 9, 2018

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked telecom service providers to start issuing 13-digit digit numbers for SIM based machine-to-machine (M2M) services, which will co-exist with 10-digit numbers. However, the change will not affect mobile phone numbers, which will continue to have 10 digits.
