Now they are confronted with a new problemu00a0-- an ailing leopard that is counting its last days. Ganesh, the 15-year-old leopard at the BBP, is in a very critical state. Sources say that it may die anytime because of its old age. Ganesh was brought to the park when it was just a three-month-old cub. It was found abandoned in the forest and was later brought to the park. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2010/oct/612345678.jpg" border="5" /> Timeline: Experts say the lifespan of a leopard is only 8 to 9 years BC Chittiappa, assistant director, Veterinary Services (BBP), said, "Ganesh fell sick two months ago and has not recovered. We have kept him on fluids since a long time and we are trying our best to save its life. The normal lifespan of a leopard is only 8 to 9 years; he has outlived it." He added, "All other animals which were affected with the infection are fine and are eating normally." Millo Tago, executive director and conservator of forests (BBP), said, "Ganesh has been suffering from a neurological illness for over a month. We hope he will survive, but he is too old."
