3.7 magnitude earthquake hits Konya Dam in Pune

A minor earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale was recorded at Konya Dam, 190 kilometres away from Pune, during the wee hours on Friday.

The earthquake was recorded at 12.57 am on Friday at an area of 24 kilometres at the dam premises near Konya and Patan area. As per the official information the low intensity tremor occurred on Friday around 12.57.25 am.

The dam, with a capacity of 105 TMC, was constructed in 1964. An earthquake occurred on December 11, 1967. Since then, by December 2015, as many as 1,19,934 earthquakes of different magnitudes have been recorded at the Konya earthquake monitoring centre.

This is the second earthquake recorded in last one month in the area.
