A game of street cricket brought a 31-year-old woman&rsquo;s life to a standstill on Tuesday, robbing her of an eye. Shabana, a resident of Hariyali village, was on her way to the market for some vegetables on Tuesday. She took her year-old daughter Siza along. When Shabana reached Jama Masjid Compound, she found some people playing cricket on the road. She even tried asking them to stop, but one of the men had already pitched the ball. The batsman raised his bat to strike the ball, hitting Shabana&rsquo;s right eye in the process. &ldquo;For a second I was lost to the world. I could not see anything and fainted. My eye was in my hand. I was rushed to a local doctor, who instructed that I be rushed to a hospital,&rdquo; said Shabana. &ldquo;I was taken to JJ Hospital in Byculla, where the doctors advised that I get an artificial eye implanted.&rdquo; But the family is going through a lean patch financially. Shabana&rsquo;s husband Salim Shaikh had bought a new car on loan and rented it out to a mobile service provider. They were barely managing to make ends meet this way, but on Tuesday, the company discontinued use of the vehicle. &ldquo;My husband is worried about the car loan. The vehicle may be taken over by the bank. To add to the burden, he has to spend Rs 1.5 lakh for my eye implant. I cannot see with the right eye. I have two kids to look after &mdash; a one-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy,&rdquo; said Shabana. The Vikhroli police have registered a case under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) of the IPC and arrested Altaf Shaikh, who hit her with the bat. u00a0
