4,524 cabbies, auto rickshaw drivers in Mumbai booked for refusing fares this year

Despite it being illegal to refuse to ply, taxi and auto drivers continue to do so even though authorities carry out drives to curb the practice

Even though it is illegal for taxi and auto drivers to refuse commuters, every day, passengers often have to endure their rejection and the trouble of finding someone who would ply them to their respective destination. Often, commuters have to endure the insult of taxis and auto drivers just zipping past commuters, altogether ignoring them. And in an attempt to curb this practice, the traffic police started a month-long drive in September to nab the errant taxi and auto drivers.
