Pune: Four persons were today injured in a fire that broke out in a slum here following an explosion of a domestic gas cylinder, in which a number of dwellings were also gutted, police said.
The fire, in the Mangalwar Peth area, started when an LPG cylinder exploded in a house and spread, leading to several similar blasts in the adjoining structures, they added.
"During the fire, 12 LPG cylinders exploded and 15 tenements were gutted and 40 to 45 (tenements) received damages ," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Kishor Naik.
Four persons sustained minor burn injuries and the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, the officer said. After around four hours, the blaze was brought under control with the fire brigade's efforts aided by a light
shower that the city had late afternoon.
