A five-year-old who was kept hostage, mutilated and raped by her neighbour, is fighting for her life in Delhi. Pic/AFP The man who mutilated her is missing; he had moved just a few days ago into the building in East Delhi where the child and her family lived in one room. In the evening, the child was moved at her family&rsquo;s request from Swami Dayanand Hospital to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/apr/Slogans.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 370px;" /> Demonstrators shouted slogans and gestured in front of the Government Secretariat and Presidential Palace in the Capital during a protest calling for better safety for women, following the gang rape of a student last December. File pic &ldquo;This is the first time that I have seen such barbarism with a five-year-old,&rdquo; said RK Bansal, a doctor who treated her before she was moved. The child went missing on Monday evening while she was playing near her home and was found on Wednesday evening, battered and bleeding in the basement. It was not the police who found her. Neighbours who heard her cries broke into the locked room. By then, the abductor had disappeared. Cop bribed girl&rsquo;s kin Offering a weak defence, the police said that it searched public parks in the neighbourhood, but did not think to search the many rooms in the building where the family lived. When she was found, her father says the police offered him Rs 2,000 &ldquo;to keep quiet&rdquo;. He said they advised him, &ldquo;Thank God that she has been found alive.&rdquo; Those allegations and the police&rsquo;s insistence that it had acted promptly to help the family left protesters seething at the Swami Dayanand hospital where the child was admitted after she was found. A police officer was caught on camera slapping a woman demonstrator; he has been suspended. The protesters, many of who belonged to Arvind Kejriwal&rsquo;s Aam Aadmi Party, targeted politicians who visited the hospital, shouting angry slogans. A Delhi minister&rsquo;s car was vandalised. Since December, when the fatal gang rape of a student on a Delhi bus stunned and incensed the country, the city&rsquo;s police and government have vowed that no effort will be spared to protect women. But a slew of attacks, many of them against young girls, prove that despite the introduction of tougher anti-rape laws and pledges of better policing, little has changed for a city titled &ldquo;the rape capital&rdquo; of the country. Rapist wanted to kill the girl Speaking to mediapersons, RK Bansal, medical superintendent, Swami Dayanand Hospital, said, &ldquo;Upon examination, we found a 200 ml bottle and two or three pieces of candle inserted into her private parts. This is the first time that I have seen such barbarism with a five-year-old.&rdquo; He added, &ldquo;There were injuries on her lips and cheeks and bruise marks on her neck, suggesting that attempts were made to strangle her. Her blood pressure was way below normal, and she had fever when she was admitted,&rdquo; he said. ACP suspended for slapping girl An assistant commissioner (ACP) of Delhi Police was suspended for slapping a 17-yr-old girl protester, who was trying to meet the rape victim at the hospital. ACP Bani Singh Ahlawat, posted at Khajuri Khas area of east Delhi, was suspended with immediate effect for slapping and pushing Beenu Rawat, a Class XII student, said a senior police officer. Rawat, a resident of east Delhi&rsquo;s Shahdara, was trying to enter the emergency ward of the Swami Dayanand hospital when she was assaulted. Sandeep Dikshit heckled at hospital East Delhi MP Sandeep Dikshit and Delhi Health Minister AK Walia were heckled by protesters at Swami Dayanand hospital where they had gone to meet the victim. As soon as Dikshit and Walia arrived at the hospital, some protesters, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members, tried to stop them from entering the hospital premises and manhandled them. Dikshit and Walia arrived a few minutes before the girl was shifted to Lok Nayak hospital from Swami Dayanand hospital for better treatment.
