Cops say builder killing occurred moments after he failed to sort out land dispute with accused
A day after 56-year-old builder Surendra Shah was hacked to death near Bhakti Dham in Kasarwadi, the Crime Branch (Unit III) of the city police yesterday arrested six people for the murder.
Shah, the owner of Bhakti Group, was killed on Wednesday afternoon after a visit to one of his construction sites.

The arrested persons were identified as Rajesh Baban Mote (30), Sagar Kamble (24), Sanjog Nalawade (25), Satish Pillai (24), Mangesh Pardeshi (27) and Ganesh Bhor (24).
“Our Crime Branch (Unit III) Police Inspector Mohan Vidhate, whose team was investigating the case, received information that Mote and his other five accomplices had attacked Shah with a sharp weapon near his office at Bhakti Dham and all were in preparation to flee the city on Thursday afternoon in a car,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Anant Shinde said.
Addressing a press conference, Shinde said nakabandi was ordered at various places to look for the car with the registration number MH-14 BA 1380.
“As per the information, nakabandi was put up in various junctions in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Bhosari, and on Thursday afternoon we arrested all the six suspects from Rudra Hotel in Bhosari,” Shinde said.
Murder motive
Shinde said there was some litigation on between Shah and Mote regarding a piece of land in Kasarwadi and Shah had gone to his office and held a meeting with Mote and the others to reach to a compromise, but the meeting did not prove fruitful.
“After the meeting, Shah started approaching his car and while he was walking, Mote and others attacked him with a sharp weapon and hacked him to death,” Shinde said.
