Travel agents got tickets issued through emergency quota

Member of Parliament from Balia district in UP and son of late Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar, Neeraj Shekhar found himself at the receiving end of a forgery attempt by a travel agency recently.u00a0 The agency had forged his signatures and prepared recommendation letters for Railway ministry to get the tickets issued under emergency quota.

"The Railway ministry had informed Shekhar about it but by that time the accused had already got the tickets issued twice. Later, Shekhar lodged a complaint with the vigilance branch of Railway," said a police source.
Speaking with Mid Day, Shekhar said, "I came to know of the incident after Railway Ministry contacted me. I told them that these were not my signatures and asked them not to issue any more tickets under those signatures. I don't know what happened exactly. If the accused can approach Railway Ministry, they can even use our letterheads and forged signatures for any illegal purpose," said Shekhar.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

The vigilance wing of Railway Board has decided to hand over the investigation to Delhi Police after having received similar complaints from several MPs."Railway Vigilance wing has said that surveillance is not possible in such matters as the persons are usually known to the MPs," said a police source.

Sources said that recently, two persons were held for duping BJP MP Shahnawaz Hussain. A travel agency Anwar Travel was behind the forgery attempt.
