Docs happy as State Family Welfare Department decentralises registration procedure of Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) centres; claim the old system was extremely time-consuming
Pune doctors heaved a sigh of relief after the State Family Welfare Department decentralised the procedure for registration Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) centres. Doctors said they could now directly approach the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for registration of centres.
Commenting on the department's move, joint director for state health services V D Khanande said, “Decentralisation will not only increase vigilance, but will help us initiate quick action against illegalities.” Seconding Khanande’s opinion, President for the Indian Medical Association- Pune (IMA-P) Maya Tulpule said several doctors have been waiting for years now to get their centres registered, and the new system should help cut down on further delays in issuing permissions.
