On Monday, around 58 pilots belonging to the Pawan Hans Pilots&rsquo; Guild (PHPG) had gone on strike and said they wouldn&rsquo;t resume work until all their demands were heeded. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/MiD-DAY-print-3.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 783px;" /> On Tuesday, nine choppers were grounded for a second day running causing the company to accrue losses of approximately Rs 70 lakh (&lsquo;<a href="http://www.mid-day.com/news/2013/dec/041213-pawan-hans-loses-rs-70-lakh-as-pilots-continue-standoff.htm" target="_blank">Pawan Hans loses Rs 70 lakh as pilots continue standoff</a>&rsquo;). On Tuesday night around 10 pm, the chairman cum Managing Director of Pawan Hans flew out from Goa to Delhi for a meeting, which continued post midnight. Following the meeting, the pilots resumed work on Wednesday morning. &ldquo;During the meeting, the management assured us they would be following all procedures,&rdquo; said Captain RK Mahajan, the general secretary of PHPG, adding, &ldquo;We resumed our duties on Wednesday as soon as our demands were heard.&rdquo; Additionally, the five deputy general managers, who had quit their jobs on Saturday leaving the top posts of management vacant, resumed their duties. M Sreekumar, general manager, western region, Pawan Hans, said, &ldquo;Everything was back to normal on Wednesday morning after a few representatives from the PHPG attended the meeting in Delhi on Tuesday night. Nine choppers eight scheduled to fly sorties for ONGC and one for British Gas flew as per schedule on Wednesday.&rdquo; A senior official from ONGC said, &ldquo;The strike being called off is a good sign for us, as we were under pressure for the last two days. But, we didn&rsquo;t suffer any monetary losses.&rdquo; The Issue The PHPG went on strike on Monday in order to protest against flying to Naxal-affected areas, flying for longer hours and not having an authorised person brief them before their flights. u00a0
