To plug holes in recruitment, ITBP hits the world wide web

Apart from the Sino-Indian border, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is now also on the information superhighway.

The paramilitary force has launched a new professional helpline, an SMS service and a website to ensure a foolproof recruitment process. The fully functional website and the 12-hour helpline will answer all the recruitment and career-related queries of the aspirants.

The website will exclusively cover candidates applying for the post of constable (general duty) who form nearly 90 per cent of the force.

While ITBP hailed the new process as the most innovative in the recruitment of paramilitary forces, sources said that the new process was initiated after reports of bungling and impersonation in other forces. "Paramilitary forces have to conduct massive recruitment rallies and off late there have been numerous reports of impersonation and illegal recruitment rackets.

The new system is the need of the hour," said a senior Home Ministry official. While the website will contain all the information related to certificates required by the candidates and guidelines to fill the form, the helpline would provide ready assistance to candidates at all stages of recruitment. The website will also have the provision of lodging complaints. The SMS-based helpline would answer all queries, in both Hindi and English.

"The system has been developed to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment system for all the candidates," said ITBP spokesperson Deepak Kumar Pandey.
