A boat, lying suspiciously abandoned, was seized yesterday from Vikhroli creek. The boat &mdash; deserted since two days &mdash; was noticed by a local fisherman who informed the Vikhroli police officials. On tracing the location, it was learnt that the boat belonged to a woman residing in Alibag at Raigad district. &ldquo;We were informed by Pereira, a local fisherman, at 9 am. We immediately took possession of the boat. A team has been dispatched to Alibag and has been in continuous contact with the local police station in Raigad district,&rdquo; said Senior Police Inspector Mahipat Ganpatrao Indalkar from Vikhroli Police station. Twist in the tale However, the woman, under whose name the boat is registered, claimed to have sold the boat long ago. Now, the police are trying to find out the current owner of the boat. &ldquo;Looking at the threat from sea routes after 26/11 terror attack, the Vikhroli police station has formed a team which is constantly in touch with the local fishermen. We are also making an attempt to maintain friendly relations with these people so that they don&rsquo;t fear the police and inform us whenever there is some tension among them,&rdquo; added Indalkar. Anti-terrorism squad has also begun probing the matter to check if the boat was in the wrong hands.
