Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana (BJS) is supplying 700 metric tons of silage for cattle in drought-hit areas in Maharashtra. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/may/Bharatiya-Jain-Sanghatana.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 636px;" /> Fodder for thought: Members of the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana (BJS) donate 700 metric tons of silage for cattle in drought-hit areas &ldquo;We have set a target to send 1 crore tonnes of fodder to a total 30 camps in parts hit by water scarcity,&rdquo; informed Shantilal Muttha, National President, BJS. Areas like Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Osmanabad, Solapur and some parts of Pune district are parched. Wagons laden with fodder-filled gunny bags arrived at Pune Railway Station from Ashoknagar in Madhya Pradesh late on Wednesday night. &ldquo;This is the second consignment,&rdquo; said Muttha. &ldquo;1 crore tonnes of fodder will be provided to 10,000 animals for the next 4 months. Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India is assisting in haulage of the fodder and has constructed 16 camps in drought-hit parts. Many transport companies are also providing trucks for carrying the fodder-filled bags to remote parts of the state. 1 crore Total fodder in tonnes BJS hopes to supply over the next few months 10,000 Approx number of animals that will benefit Restoration of lakes BJS as announced that it would be spearheading a mass campaign for restoring 50 dead lakes in Patoda, Shirur and Aashti talukas of Beed district.
