Affordable houses to counter illegal ones

In a bid to curb illegal construction in the Gaothan area and the regions out of the jurisdiction of municipal corporations and councils, the state government is coming up with its ambitious project of affordable houses for the financially weaker sections of the district

The project has been approved by the state government in 1997 under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act 1966, and the plans were recently accepted by the district town planning department.

The district collector has been appointed the project's controlling officer.
