After the Embassy of India in Mongolia extended their swift assistance to passengers of the Air India Flight AI 174, which made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar International Airport on Sunday evening.
The Air India spokesperson on Wednesday confirmed that the flight carrying Indian passengers has successfully landed in India. While highlighting the arrival of the Air India flight in Delhi, the spokesperson asserted that, “The relief flight carrying passengers and crew of AI174, who were stranded in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after a precautionary diversion, has landed in Delhi this morning. Air India would like to thank local authorities in Ulaanbaatar, the Indian Embassy in Mongolia, the DGCA, the Government of India, and all those who helped us in ensuring that the passengers and crew were looked after during this time and bringing them to Delhi safely.”
The airlines also highlighted the inconvenience caused to the passengers and stated that, “We also thank our passengers for their patience and understanding during the diversion. Safety and wellbeing of our guests and employees remains our foremost priority.”
The Embassy on Tuesday had earlier informed that Air India has dispatched a recovery aircraft from India, which is expected to arrive in Ulaanbaatar by Monday evening.
The statement released by the embassy on Tuesday said, "Air India has informed us that the recovery aircraft from India is likely to arrive in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, by this evening (04 Nov 2025), and the passengers will return to India tonight itself."
According to a post put up on the social media platform X by the Embassy of India in Mongolia, "On 03 November 2025, Air India Flight AI 174, operating from San Francisco to New Delhi via Kolkata, made a precautionary landing at around 1959 hrs at Ulaanbaatar International Airport in Mongolia."
The embassy, while highlighting the concerning situation, had earlier also posted that, "On receipt of information from Air India, one hour prior to the landing, a team of embassy officials was immediately deputed at the airport to facilitate immigration and hotel stay of the 228 passengers plus crew members."
"With the assistance of the Embassy Consular team, all immigration & visa facilitation, transportation, hotel accommodation, etc., was arranged in coordination with the Mongolian Authorities. The passengers are being looked after," the post further added.
