Two days after bomb scare in Camp, bomb squad inspects same spot, reportedly after Police Commissioner gets an SMS
The police and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) sprang into action soon after the Commissioner of Police reportedly received an SMS about a 'bomb scare' near Budhani Wafers yesterday evening.
This was the second bomb scare this week near Budhani Wafers, as on Tuesday as well the BDDS team was called in to look at a suspicious packet. The packet was found to contain a harmless electronic bell.
Yesterday, strong rumours that the Commissioner of Police had received an SMS about a 'bomb scare' on MG Road started spreading and the entire area near Budhani Wafers on M G Road was cordoned off. However, nothing was found.
Commissioner of Police Dr Satyapal Singh clarified that there was a bomb scare two days ago and that the message he received yesterday was from the media.
"I do not know about the message, but some officers asked me to check the premises near Budhani Wafers because of a bomb scare. However, nothing was found after scanning the entire area," said DCP Zone II Rajeshkumar Mor.
"We were asked to shut the shop for an hour or so when the police along with the BDDS arrived to inspect the spot with their sniffer dogs," said Dileep Budhani (55), owner of Budhani Wafers.
Another shopkeeper on MG Road said that the inspection did not carry on for a long time and must have been a precautionary check.
