Jammu: Army chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag yesterday reviewed security situation along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir and asked the troops to be alert against any inimical activity, in the wake of heightened tension in Indo-Pak ties.
&ldquo;The Chief of Army Staff, General Dalbir Singh visited Headquarters Northern Command at Udhampur today", a senior Army officer said. The visit comes a day after Pakistan said the Indian army killed seven of its soldiers in shelling.
Gen Suhag exhorted the troops to be alert against any inimical designs and be aggressive in their approach. The General interacted with the Formation Commanders and reviewed the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) as well as internal security situation in the Command theatre, he said.
Pak firing and shelling in Sunderbani sector Pakistani troops yesterday targeted Indian posts with heavy firing and shelling for four hours along the LoC in Rajouri, forcing Indian troops to retaliate.
&ldquo;There have been unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistani Army in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district from 0710 hours today," a defence spokesman said.
There was also overnight firing along LoC in Pallanwala sector of Jammu district.
&lsquo;Pak can&rsquo;t be bullied, capable of defending itself&rsquo; Pakistan Prime Minsiter Nawaz Sharif yesterday said Pakistan cannot be bullied by Indian &ldquo;tactics&rdquo; and its restraint should not be "misunderstood" as weakness.
&ldquo;Pakistan cannot be bullied by such tactics as we are fully capable of defending our soil against any belligerence," Sharif said.
