Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/excise-policy-case-money-laundering-law-cant-become-instrument-of-oppression-sanjay-singh-to-hc-23314912" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Sanjay Singh</a> has written a letter from jail addressed to the countryman, saying he was arrested to silence his voice, reported news agency PTI.
He was arrested on October 5 in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise scam in the city. He has been lodged in Tihar Jail.
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/money-laundering-case-aap-leader-sanjay-singh-moves-sc-against-hc-order-dismissing-his-plea-challenging-arrest-23318070" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Sanjay Singh</a>, a vocal critic of the BJP and the government led by it, said he was arrested to silence his voice, reported PTI.
With each passing day in jail, he said, his "determination and strength to fight authoritarian power" are increasing, reported PTI.
"Born out of the womb of struggle, the AAP has created hope and trust in Indian politics. Under Arvind Kejriwal's leadership, in just 10 years, the AAP became a national party. We formed the government in Delhi thrice, achieved a significant majority in Punjab, and succeeded in penetrating Gujarat. Since independence, numerous governments were formed across the country, but the commendable work in education and healthcare by the Kejriwal government became an example in the country and the world," he said in the letter, reported PTI.
He said the AAP does not spread casteism and divides society in the name of religion, reported PTI.
"That is why the AAP became the target. The BJP has adopted the path of suppression," he alleged, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, the court also extended the judicial custody of MP Sanjay Singh in the Delhi Excise policy money laundering case till November 24, 2023. A special judge also permitted the production of Sanjay Singh before the CJM Court at Amritsar, Punjab in a Defamation case on November 18, 2023.
The court directed the jail authorities to take him to Punjab on Rajdhani train in view of his health issue and changed weather and come back the same day.
The jail authorities have been also directed to make appropriate security arrangements.&nbsp;
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met the wife and family members of his former deputy Manish Sisodia at the residence of Minister Atishi and conveyed his Diwali greetings.
The wife of Sisodia, who was arrested in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, is currently ailing.
Kejriwal also met AAP leader Sanjay Singh's family members at their residence in the national capital.
