A week after ex-police Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik was shunted from his post, he suffered a mild heart attack yesterday. After complaining of chest pain in the morning, Patnaik was brought to Jaslok hospital, in south Mumbai, where he is under the watchful eye of cardiologist Dr A B Mehta. <img alt="Arup Patnaik" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/aug/Arup.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 521px; " /> In recovery: Sources in the Mumbai police stated that Patnaik has a history of chest pain and was also admitted in 1999. File pic Patnaik was rushed from his Peddar Road residence and was admitted to the Intensive care unit (ICU) at the hospital. Soon after, a rumour started doing the rounds in police circles that the transfer had taken a toll on his health. Sources in the Mumbai police, however, stated that Patnaik has a history of chest pain and was also admitted in 1999. &ldquo;He came to the hospital at 10 am with discomfort in his chest, and his ECG revealed that he had a mild heart attack,&rdquo; said a doctor from Jaslok hospital, on condition of anonymity. Patnaik is currently in the south wing ICU of the hospital under the supervision of Dr Mehta. He said, &ldquo;We have performed an angiography and an angioplasty with stent placement to his right coronary artery. He is currently resting in the ICU and his condition is stable. He will remain in the hospital for 3-4 days.&rdquo;u00a0
