Two polling centres extend deadline by over an hour to accommodate last-minute rush (It is all legal)

Three polling booths in Pune extended their deadline by an hour and a half, as there was a rush of voters post 5 pm official deadline.

The Rafi Ahmed Kidwai School and Savitribai Phule Prashala in the Bhawani Peth area of Kasba Peth constituency, which constituted polling booths from 198 to 215, allowed this.

Rajguru Vidyalay in the Shivaji Nagar constituency also let voters to do the same.

According to Assistant Returning Officer D R Navale, "Since these schools had a large number of polling booths and several voters reached there just minutes before the deadline, we allowed them to vote as per the Election Commission's directives."

He explained, "Any voter who reaches the polling station before the deadline is entitled to cast a vote."

Navale informed that the main gates of both schools were shut at 5 pm, as per the rules. Only the people in by then were allowed to vote.
