Two unidentified motorcyclists attacked a 19-year-old collegian yesterday morning while she was on her way to college to appear for an exam. The assault took place around 7 am on Padmabai Thakker lane, Dadar. Pic/Datta Kumbhar According to officials of the Shivaji Park police station, the duocalled out her name and the moment Asorkar turned around they slashed her with a sharp object before fleeing the spot. They said the girl, who injured her right arm in the attack, could not identify any of her attackers as they were wearing helmets. Asorkar is an FYBMS student in Ruparel College and a resident of Dadar. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Dhananjay Kulkarni said, &ldquo;The Padmabai Thakker lane is adjacent to Ruparel College, where the victim studies. The accused attacked her the moment she turned around to check out the person who just called out her name. Shocked, the victim didn&rsquo;t pay much attention to her injury and appeared for her exam.&rdquo; He added it was only after she started feeling giddy during the paper that Asorkar informed the examiner about the incident following which she was rushed to Hinduja Hospital for treatment.Asorkar was discharged from the hospital after being administered first aid. &ldquo;The family claimed that they didn&rsquo;t know anyone who wanted to harm them and were perplexed as to why their daughter was attacked. We are probing all possible angles,&rdquo; Kulkarni said. Though police officials are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack and whether the sharp object used to attack Asorkar was a knife or a blade, the unidentified duo was booked under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code.u00a0
