Kolkata: The BJP on Saturday led a demonstration march to the police headquarters in Lalbazar protesting the role of Kolkata Police in handling Wednesday&rsquo;s Red Road mishap case where one Air Force official was killed in a hit and run case. RJD MLA Mohammed Sohrab&rsquo;s son Sambia Sohrab, who was driving the car , was arrested after four days on Saturday night.

Around 200 activists of BJP&rsquo;s youth and women wing, led by its chief Rupa Ganguly, marched towards the Kolkata Police headquarters where they were blocked at the Central Avenue. Ganguly alleged that the law and order in West Bengal has deteriorated and the safety and security programme has reached a bottom low. The actress-turned-politician also alleged that the city police has helped the culprits in the Red Road mishap escape after they committed the crime. &ldquo;The administration is trying to save people who are with the party. Repeatedly, kin of TMC leaders&rsquo; are being shielded by the administration doing wrong. The Chief Minister and the administration want good people to leave the state and those left over will be tortured,&rdquo; she further charged.
The Trinamool Congress said the driver of the car which mowed down Air Force officer, Abhimanyu Gaur, should be booked as per law and it made clear that the party has no connection with him or his father. &ldquo;The culprits must certainly be booked as per law of the land. We have nothing to do with them and have never had anything to do with them,&rdquo; TMC national spokesperson Derek O&rsquo;Brien said in a statement. The police had issued look out notice against Ambia Sohrab, Sambia Sohrab and their father former RJD MLA Mohammed Sohrab, who were absconding after the speeding car reportedly owned by them killed the 21-year-old officer.
