Sources say beams and pillars were moved to facilitate car movements in the showroom at the ground floor of the collapsed Mahim building; BMC says strict action will be taken if any violations are found
Now that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has retrieved the documents of Altaf Mansion, the five-storey building in Mahim which collapsed on Monday, the corporation will check whether beams and pillars were moved to facilitate automobile movement in the car showroom on the ground floor of the structure without requisite permissions.

The BMC is verifying if any permissions were sought to make structural changes in the car showroom on the ground floor of Altaf Mansion, which collapsed on the night of June 10 following heavy rains. Pic/Satyajit Desai
