Breaking: Top seer announces end of Kumbh Mela amid COVID-19 crisis

Juna Akhara's Mahamandleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri's decision comes after PM Narendra Modi appealed to keep the mega-festival 'symbolic' amid the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases across the country.

Amid surging COVID-19 cases in the country, Swami Avdheshanand Giri, Acharya Mahamandleshwar, Juna Akhara on Saturday said his Akhara has immersed the deities and now the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar has concluded for them.
Taking to Twitter, Swami Avdheshanand Giri said the safety of the people of the country is Akhada's first priority, and in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Juna Akhada is ending the Kumb Mela early.
