If the winter chill is making you crave a hot fudge brownie, you're in luck. Brownie point at Wanawadi offers a host of sweet treats to give you a sugar rush

When a cozy hot fudge brownie store from Mumbai opens a branch in Pune, of course, we are excited. But the newly-opened Brownie Point seems to have curtailed on their brownie varieties and instead gone the extra mile with other snack and dessert options.


Ferrero Rocher eggless brownie

Apart from brownies, the cheerful dessert shop also sells birthday accessories such as candles and balloons and even chocolates in a pram to celebrate your new baby, chocolate ship-shaped lollipops (Rs 15) or simply assorted, colourful packs of chocolates for any occasion. You can also check out a variety of breads, dinner rolls, soup sticks, khari biscuits, cookies and flavoured cashews. They also have chicken and cheese nuggets as well as sandwiches and spring rolls (veg and non-veg).

Coming to the brownies, all of them tasted almost the same. They weren't completely sponge-like or heavenly fudgy either.

We began with the Swiss Eggless Brownie (Rs 40), a smooth, soft one generously layered with chocolate chips. Next came a Ferrero Rocher Eggless (Rs 45) with almost the same glaze except for the little globe of the Ferrero Rocher on top. We recommend you go with the eggless options for they, surprisingly, have a better texture.

We tried a Lindt Chocolate (Rs 50) and an After Eight (Rs 50), which are made from eggs. Again, it was just the frosting that differed. While the Lindt took a small piece of the chocolate on its glaze, the After Eight was a much stronger influence. If there was just one brownie you wanted to eat, the After Eight would win hands down.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

Aside from the brownies, the Lemon Tart (Rs 30) was a bit too lemony but without the tartness of citrus zest. The Blueberry Mousse (Rs 50) tasted a lot like cheesecake but was a fresh, creamy blueberry blast. The Chocolate Lava (Rs 45) was identical to the one a popular pizza chain offers. It had a little cupcake structure that, when warmed, was deliciously oozing but not molten enough to die for.

The absolute best was the Death By Chocolate pastry (Rs 55). It was a m ufffdlange of chocolate mousse, chocolate flakes and tidbits of crisps.

The two smiling ladies who have franchised the Pune outlet are looking at taking this shop to other locations as well. With their enthusiasm, sensible price points and chocolate delights, we wish them well.
