An RTO report has confirmed that speeding was responsible for the bus accident at Dive Ghat early Monday morning, which left three dead.

Laxman Darade, deputy RTO officer, said, "We have checked the roads at Dive Ghat. The condition of the roads is good and wide. It is unlikely that an accident would occur there. Speeding combined with rash driving caused the accident. We are yet to submit an official report and are awaiting the police report on the case."

Arrest and bail
The Lonikalbhor Police Station on Wednesday morning arrested Tanaji Sawant, owner, Balaji Travels and driver Hiralal Saheblal Sheikh. Investigation officer, PI Ravindra Rasal, said, "The arrests were made under Section 304 (culpable homicide) of the IPC. The men were subsequently released on bail. The driver has, in his statement, claimed that the accident occurred because the bus' brakes had failed and he could not control the bus."
